Don't count out Bridgeport for big winter smallmouths. The big ones bite in wintertime. Especially on a full moon. The prior lake record before the 7.41lbs was caught in December. I've caught several good ones out there myself.

I’ve never fished Bridgeport for smallmouth. Didn’t even know they had them in there.

Temper your expectations, you usually will not catch a bunch of them in one trip. Best bet is east side of main lake near damn for me. Usually there is no doubt when you hook one.

What kind of structure do the smallies hang out in the winter months?

Rocky banks, points, bluff walls etc at least on Bridgeport. Can catch them shallow or deep based on weather conditions etc.

Yes, I caught a few this weekend on Texoma. They were more aggressive than the largemouth. Found spots, largies, and smallies all mixed together about 2/3's toward the backs of the creeks.

Went a couple weeks ago and threw a Ned rig about all day and caught the snot out of fish, including a 4lber and a 3lber, but most were largemouth and a couple spots.
