Anybody have any experience with Hornady superformance in 130 gr SST 270... I'm looking for something to replace Hornady light Magnum interbonds... Or any suggestions or advice on this matter.

I personally do not like the SST with my 25.06 - I would suggest keeping it simple if you're just hunting whitetail and use Hornady American Whitetail interlocks. Also, I'm almost done with a box of Federal Power-Shok and have been very happy with the dead deer so far. Both I believe are lead core. I am not on the THF, but I'm sure they know everything about everything and are extremely opinionated on the subject, so you might want to ask over there as well.

I'm still pretty new over there at The hunting forum... But I did ask the same question.

I shoot the 270 Hornady Superformance 130 Interlocks on game. Practice with the Hornady Superformance 130 SST on targets as they are way cheaper. These two loads have identical ballistics and identical ballistic coefficients. They impact identical (tested). The interlocks perform better on game.
The SSTs are excellent on game in slower loads. Have shot much game with 6.5 Grendel Hornady SST, 7mm-08 Hornady Reduced Recoil SST, 270 Hornady Reduced Recoil SST. All of which shoot about 120 grain around 2675 or so. Devastating performance.

150 grain Core Lokts will group one inch out of mine. Not sure how you can beat that for hunting unless you are shooting long range.
I hate photobucket.

I would much rather prefer something like that for the weight retention if I had a shot at a big hog....have you experienced both rounds having the same zero?

Core Lokts are darn consistent with excellent performance on whitetails, and one of the more inexpensive rounds.
Having said that I generally shoot Fed Premiums and use 150 grain in my .270. Generally DRT

I'm still pretty new over there at The hunting forum... But I did ask the same question. They are going to tell you the .277 bullets have a low ballistic coefficient and you need to "build" a new gun in 6.5 or 7mm.

Used to like to mention I’ve been killing deer and pigs with a 30-30 for the past 30 years. All dead within 30 feet. And shooting Remington Core Lokt.

Core Lokts out of a 30-30? Tell me the velocity of your handloads, and the length and twist rate of your barrel. I'll run the numbers through my ballistic calculator to prove that is not a good long range system.

They are going to tell you the .277 bullets have a low ballistic coefficient and you need to "build" a new gun in 6.5 or 7mm. And then they will get in an argument about what kind of 6.5. And someone will mention a 7mm-08. Next someone gets called a democrat and the post disappears.
I hate photobucket.
