I took a trip to a clear water lake and found some good fishing. If you think crappie are line shy, this video is for you. Ended up with a limit out of around 40 caught. Sure was a fun day. Hope you all enjoy!

Outstanding. that was a nice hole you started on. i just restrung my spinning reel with 20lb yellow kast king braid. i know it is a bit heavy but i fish for channel cats some too. eager to try it out.

Back in the 70's/80's my Dad would take a 3/32" welding rod and flatten the ends, then drill a hole in each end for my Mother to fish for crappie in brush piles. Tie the line on the top hole and split ring on bottom for the hook. That way the crappie couldn't get her hung because they couldn't drag the welding rod thru the brush.
I fish on the edge and stay out of the middle

I have heard of this. Yet, I hear I didn't catch any because my line was too heavy or green LOL.

Depends on your definition of “clear” and the fishing conditions. If you’re fishing the main lake in 20 fow, the line color might not make a huge difference, but I’ve fished super clear rivers loaded with crappie in 3-5 fow that you can’t buy a bite without some 4lb fluorocarbon leader. So your line doesn’t matter....until it does. Many times when crappie fishing shallower rivers the line is more important than the bait tied to it.

I caught several crappie and sandies out of this pool with the same green line. They didn’t seem to mind.

Looks like 3-5 ft and clear water to me.
