Hasta la vista hydrilla, see you next year. Time to see who can catch them without grass.

Grout
We fish all over falcon to Fairfield to fork trying not to fish the same lake twice in one year and going south this time of year seems to be a bit warmer. Now until February I'll spend my time on big Sam getting ready for next year.

Terry I saw water temps around 63.

A lot of the hydrilla is not to the surface like it was in oct. But all the fish I caught were on the edges. there is some matted grass but its thinning out quick.

Wes, unless there a big tournament that pays big money like champs or the team trail I never saw a need to keep spots a secret. If I can give someone who travels a few hours to fish a head start then so be it. They still have to pick the right bait and execute the catch. The only real secret spots left are the brush piles you just put out and they won't stay secret very long with the technology we have today.

FYI mason point was always good to me this time of year in the past right out from the boat ramp throwing dd14 and 22s I didn't make it there but it was next on my stops.

Grout, keep fighting the good fight, bottom line is, people that provide reports with specific locations are fishing a lake that is not their home lake and could care less of the residual traffic since they probably won’t be back for a while! So, to those that named specific areas, thanks for directing traffic on a lake that is not your home lake. Locals don’t do that and I don’t see reports from you on your home lake!

Is this the cry baby forum? Thought it was the fresh water report! I know some holes up in San Miguel for catfish if that'll make you feel better buckethead....oops I said San Miguel, now every catfisherman will be up their catching those big flat heads. Now that I think about it bracken has lots of 3-5lb blues, turkey creek in the spring time holds them too. I know your thinking...how would someone know this? if this isn't your home lake and you only fish it once in a while, how is this possible. Hummm. I guess you'll just have to be confused.

Who’s crying? I think it’s funny, someone name drops a spot and all the out of towners rush to fish it.

Have you been up San Miguel in a while, you can’t get very far up it at this level. Plus all the fish up there died, all the fish are in Opossum Creek now. Yes sir, opossum creek is where I’d go if I wanted to win a bass tournament. Although, there have been quite a few tournaments won from fishing the Mason Point area. Been quite a few 10lb bass caught from that area over the years.

What time is your clubs weigh in and are you guys launching out of Calliham or SS? I might swing by to see how you guys did.

Its been a while 5 years or so last time I was up the San Miguel. Better be careful name dropping on bucket heads( minner bucketheads) personal lake. Those fish won't be there much longer and someone will have to find them else where. If you know how to fish you'll find them all over the lake, winter Texans won't venture into the cover in fear they may get scratch their boat they tend to stick to easy spots. People who might get pissed are the duck hunters back there.

Minner Bucket wasn’t being territorial, he was just trying to help me steer the snow birds away. We don’t mind the tournament anglers, we know the snow birds are the ones that do the damage. I imagine they have already settled in for the winter now though. He’s a pretty good guy and a real good angler, I think he fishes opossum Creek every weekend. peep

In regards to naming spots. There was someone from Louisiana on Facebook saying they had a championship next spring on Choke and they would appreciate if someone would tell them some spots that would be good to fish then. Does nobody take pride in finding their own spots anymore?

If I make it to the lake this weekend, I’ll post the water temp. I bet it dropped a lot! It was 66-68 last Sunday.

Mr. Farrside, I think you keep getting my name wrong, it's Minner Bucket, "head" does not belong in my name. roflmao

It is definitely not my personal lake but I am glad to see it is fishing better. I never lived close enough in the 40lb stringer days but had some good ones the last couple of years. I actually appreciate a lake fishing report, but agree with Grout that naming specific areas, is not beneficial to anyone, other than the lurkers who don't put in the time it takes to be successful. Grout, you are wrong, I am not a good fisherman. The only 2 fish I knew how to catch were in the "creek". bang

The creek...that we shall not call by name anymore....is where it’s at! Some days, the “creek” is so good, the fish will jump in the boat!

Hey Minner, do these look familiar? Remember that time we took our kayaks up into Opossum creek and then we kayak’d on up to San Miguel creek.
