I have patients on Fentanyl IV dips every week. If I'm not infusing it I am giving IV push. Favorite opiate pain med because of shorter half-life.

Tylenol #3 is acetaminophen + codeine. Codeine and hydrocodone are not the same drug.

People aren't buying pain pills but buying stuff as ecstacy and such (party drugs) which are cut with Fentanyl from overseas and heroin. Most are not buying it for pain but to party and treat their addictions.

I can almost assure you they didn't. Propofol is used almost exclusively. If they did you might consult an attorney.

It's all about dosages folks.

We dose in micrograms (mcg). There are 1000 mcg in one milligram (mg).

Lotta drama and hysteria in this thread once I read thru it after my 1st post above. Fentanyl has been an approved drug by the FDA for 50 years.

I got my prescriptions mixed up.
Acetaminophen plus hydrocodone was what I was prescribed after knee replacement.
I was prescribed acetaminophen plus codeine after minor surgery.

No apologies. I've been a drug pusher for 30 years now. Common that lay people can mess this med thingy up.. Lots of different drugs have very nearly the same name. It's an accident waiting to happen. Today we were talking in the unit about nurses making stupid, and I mean kill people stoopid, drug errors. We have a 5 step set protocol before administering any med. the right patient, the right drug, the right dose, the right route, and the right time

I could tell some stories. But for every screw-up there's 100K right administrations. You just don't want to be #100,001. I'm amazed how some people can even pass a licensure exam.

My whole point with this thread is that the Chinese government is incentivizing Fenytanyl production. The reason they are doing that is because they know it winds up over here causing chaos and death. It's doing so to the tune of tens of thousands of lives annually.

jmo if you need fentanyl for pain you need to be in the horsepital ,where a professional will give you what you need.

This is where I went wrong with my knee replacement surgery.
I should've gone to a horsepital and seen a professional.
