whoa...where have you been bluebonnet? I was asking about you this spring. Weren't you the one who retired, sold all his stuff, and moved to El Salto? We were all jealous of you bud. How did that work out for you? Are you still in the El Salto lake area in Mexico?

Yes, been there once. I'll never go back. Fish were too small. Accommodations were perfect, but out of our 8-people group, the biggest fish was like 6 1/2lbs. You could easily catch 100 fish a day that weighed between 2.5-3.5lbs, though....we actually caught 100 before lunch one day. The lake was really low because of Mexican govt drawing water for irrigation purposes. It actually dropped about 4ft while we were there. That sure didn't help matters. GL!

I go regularly and the lodge owner is a personal friend. The fishing hasn't been as good as 10 years ago, but you can easily catch 100 each per day. Last trip our biggest was a 9.8,with lots of 2.5 to 3.5 fish. New lodge and a paved road, except for the last 1000 yards on dirt to the lodge. Owner grew up in Choix and currently lives in San Diego, knows all the right people, so very safe to go. Only downside is getting to Los Mochis. We fly to San Diego and spend the night. Next day fly direct from Tijuana and get picked up, taken to lunch and on to the lake. Lodge is El Palomar, only one currently operating on the lake.
