During the height of the trade ware with China, the Chinese central government dramatically increased the tax incentives for Chinese pharmaceutical companies producing and exporting Fentanyl. So if you are keeping score, the Russians are effectively dividing us with social media, and the Chinese are killing us by the tens of thousands with illicit drugs. A huge portion of illegal street drugs are now cut with Fentanyl. Fentanyl overdose deaths are up 1000% over the last 5 years.

It's very easy to forget from our mostly cushy lives that the world is not a friendly place.

Following major surgery I was prescibed the hydrocodone with Tylenol (Tylenol 3).
If there's a Dr. prescribing fentanyl in the state of Texas I would be shocked.
Anyone buying a painkiller from another country is an idiot.

Fentanyl is used every day for a variety of medical procedures. Including a lot of epidurals. That's not what we are talking about though.

I'm talking about illegal street drugs. People get addicted to regular opioids then, switch to street drugs when they can no longer fill prescriptions. A huge portion of those are now cut with Fentanyl. It's killing more Americans per year than auto accidents or all forms of gun violence. Not arguing it's not a foolish thing, but a whole bunch of people are falling for it and dying.

From what I understand Bob it's getting mixed with all sorts of drugs now, not just heroin. (Not an expert here, just what I've read in articles).

it would not surprise me. heroin is getting more pure as is cocaine. people used to be afraid of heroin. now, not so much.

My surgeon put me on Fentanyl when I had my spinal fusion. Man that is some wicked stuff. Makes hydrocodone seems like baby aspirin.

now if a heroin user hears of someone od'ing they try and buy that dealers stuff hoping it's a better high. I used to take a pain med that was fentanyl and it's dosages is in micrograms cause it just takes one speck of the stuff from china or mexico to kill someone, even if it is just from skin contact.

I did learn that the skin contact thing is a myth.

I asked my dentist a couple months ago if I could get a script of fent for the pain of filling in a cavity. She said no.

Be shocked ,, they are still prescribing Fentanyl in patches.. , I agree with the rest of your post.
