Want to add weight to wacky rig hooks. Believe I can do this by wrapping thin wire around the upper portion of the hook - only want about 1/16 oz of weight. Any ideas on what kind or type of bare wire is better for this?

I use weighted strips. They come in a package of about 50 that have an adhesive backing. They are about 1/16 oz each strip. You twist them around the shank of the hook. They work great on weedless or regular wacky hooks. I wrap as close to the eye not getting in the eye and wrap down.

Lead tape will work well but I've always used these when I wanted a little weight for a whacky rig. These are awesome because they also have a weed guard. It's the Revenge Flippin Wacker. They come in 4 sizes...1/16, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 oz

This, buy a roll and keep it with your tackle. I also wrap some of my treble hook shafts to make a bait suspend or go a little deeper or ride deeper on one end or the other. They also sell lead tape at golf shops, but the solder works best for me.

I just pinch a split shot on the shank with my needle nose pliers...I keep 1/16 and 1/8th split shot all the time.
