Before they redid the crowley park pond, used to be best pond fishing in the area.
I even had them jump out of the water to bite unbaited hooks.
You could guarantee that if you took some kids there to go fishing you would always catch several.
After they reworked the pond there were few fish there and so I have not been back for quite a while.

Lots of fun catching bass and bluegill using the Wapsi Foam Spider aka Betts Bream Getter. Lost count of the fish caught and released. Was steady action with the fish striking the fishing fly on a stop and go retrieve, later a long pull and pause, and then later a fast retrieve. Largest Bass went ~14" but did lose a bigger one that threw the hook, and another that broke the line. Bummer... gotta tie more Wapsi Foam Spider. Good thing the kits make more than one fishing fly!

As Trout Stocking Season nears in our area, we decide to fish a pond for Bluegill to work on setting the hook when those scrappy stocker trout are striking lightly on our fishing fly. In this video, we demo the "Twitch"! When we are fishing without a strike indicator, we like to watch our line as it reacts to a fish lightly taking a fishing fly. The Lower Illinois River is one of two year round trout fisheries in Oklahoma. It is stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) as water conditions allow.

To help fishermen interested in fishing the Lower Illinois River, we created an infographic and posted a YouTube Video that steps through the information.

Was a fun weekend trout fishing on the Blue River in Oklahoma! Recent rains made it tough Saturday with trout caught mainly using bait. Trout Derby was in progress with some promising fish caught by others. Did fish Sunday and was able to catch five for dinner. Caught flyfishing using atandem rigged near deere and rainbow warrior trailing fly or a near deere and john deere trailing fly.

Here is the fishing fly that we used in a Tandem Rig when fishing the Blue River in Oklahoma Sunday. Had struck out Saturday but came back Sunday and managed to out five trout on the stringer. And, do check back,... will get a follow-on video of the Tandem Rig technique we used!
