Hi all. I was wondering if anyone else has bought a new boar from Amazon and had trouble getting it registered? I nought one, took the paperwork to TPWD to get it registered, and they stated they needed Amazon to sign the MSO over to me. I had the MSO signed from the manufacturer, but they stated Amazon has to sign it on back transferring it to me. As I explained Amazon doesn't have an office for me to get this done, they just firmly stated they have to do it if they sell boats in Texas! Any one has this problem with TPWD(PITA)?

You are not the first person to have issues registering/titling a boat with the TPWD. They write the rules. They interpret the rules. They enforce the rules. They never apply common sense or take the easy way. Did you buy it from Amazon or one of their certified sellers?

Yeah that doesn't make sense unless Amazon's name somehow ended up on the MSO which I doubt. Amazon is not a previous owner just a dealer. Would they require a boat dealer to sign a boat title for a new boat? This is the same thing.
You get out of it what you put into it!

Is Amazon's name on any of the paper work? If not go to a different TP&W office and keep your mouth shut.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try going to one of the tax offices they list. TPWD offices are few and far between

Yeah, TpW does tend to get their panties in a wad over Nothing. Dealing with them is never easy or pleasurable. Since it became an option to go to the county courthouse, I always use that option...they aren’t quite so anally inclined.
