There must have been more even prior to the student slapping the teacher. She was in his face and appeared to have a hold on his head. Either way, the teacher and district are in BIG trouble. That student will be retired within the year and the sub in jail.

The substitute teacher was wrong to "not" control herself.

As an educator of 15 years, I guarantee that kid, and probably others, did/said something, multiple things, over and over and over to push the woman to such extremes.

Too many kids in American schools know no consequences and know no fears. They do not care about anything but their phones, being funny, and being lazy.

Addendum: Students in America have no fear because there is no consequence to bad behavior.
Addendum II: The substitute will undoubtedly face consequences.

...done with teaching!

The teacher all ready had her hands on the kid before the slap. Regardless, there isn't a jury in the world that isn't going to bring a (well deserved) world of hurt on the teacher for the head stomp after the two punches and throwing the kid to the floor. That head stomp to me brings this to jail time.

Plus #1. There is always two sides! Videos usually show only one side. Teacher used very poor judgement and put herself and the school district in a very serious legal issue. Also if the student slapped the teacher first the student needs to be disciplined as well. Just my two cents. 2cents
Agree...however she should have taken the high road and left the room before things escalated to this level. She is probably in deep trouble

She should've slept with the student.
Then she could get a medal from the OT bolt

I could almost bet what was said. “ I don’t have to listen to you n-word, you’re just a sub” I’d bet something along that line was said. Not saying I condone what the sub did one bit but giving my theory because I’ve witnessed on several occasions. Subs are $80 a day stunt men.

This is why I retired after 28 years. I could see my self dishing out some of the same before I could stop what I was doing. The thing is, I really enjoyed teaching, just the political administration and the absence of parenting is what ruined it.

If the student would of been black and the teacher was white there would be protest all over the place and this would be headline news all over the country

I hear this all the time from teachers my wife worked with. My wife retired after 29 years and subs 4th grade and below and has been hit and cursed. Our retired teacher neighbor lady that taught high school said she had been called every name in the book and some she didn't even know. What is bad is we are a over 73% white and they still trash talk the teachers.

I fully understand. My youngest daughter taught for 15 years and quit for the same reasons you mentioned.
