The project that sidelined me is essentially over, and I can fish again. So, I went out today on a scouting run from 9:45 AM to 2:20 PM . The wind was 10 to 15 from the SW and lake pretty choppy, so I went to the west side and started at the A-Frame. It was loaded with fish in 11 to 15 fow at the drop-off. After catching 5 whites. 2 hybrids and a cat I moved on north. Saw some fish at Sam's Humps but didn't stop. Went to Long Ridge West to check out fishing straight down in 20 to 24 fow. Found fish there and caught 5 more, but it was slower than fishing the shallow structures. Next went to Key Ranch and it was loaded in 11 to 16 fow at the drop-off. Caught 10 more whites and a couple of 17 inch hybrids and moved on. Checked out Merimac Hump and it was loaded in 13 to 15 fow. Caught enough whites there to reach my limit of 25. Next went to Doll-house Point and it was loaded on drop-off from 10 to 15 fow. Caught 5 more whites and a couple more hybrids.

Finished up at Game Warden Hump. It too was loaded at same 10 to 16 fow depths. Caught til I got to total of 51 whites, 6 legal hybrids, five 17 inch hybrids and 2 cats. Looks like fishing is good these days. Water temp was 63.1 F. Most fish caught on #4 silver Mepps tied to 10 lb fluorocarbon line. Also caught a few on #2 Mepps just to see if I could.

Thanks for the report Dennis ... I always enjoy reading them, and as always you're on the fish!

Wednesday 11/6: Fished for a couple of hours (2 to 4 PM). Looked at Long Ridge and found a few but they were mostly dinks. Looked at Mid-lake Hump. Caught a few but it was slow. Went to Kevin's Point and it was loaded out in 14 to 17 fow spread out along the bottom. Caught a limit of 14 to 16 inch whites and a legal hybrid. Still using silver Mepps #4 moving it along and up from the bottom medium slow 3 to 4 turns of the reel. They would not chase it. Water temp 63.1 F.

Saturday Nov 9: Took TFFer Randycw out with me and we caught 60: 55 whites, 2 legal and 3 short hybrids. We were out from 9:30 AM to 2 PM and checked 13 structures. Found fish on four of them: Key Ranch North, Merimac Point, Kevin's Point and Enchanted Isle Ridge. Fish were in 14 to 19 fow, and we caught them all on silver #4 Mepps. The whites were mostly 13 to 16 inch fish.,

Thanks Dennis for a wonderful day of fishing! You are an amazing man and a great fisherman! The fishing and weather were perfect. I enjoyed the time we spent together and thank you for teaching me the Mepps method and sharing your fishing spots. I hope to see you on the lake catching fish again soon!
Randy

Thursday 11/14/2019: Twas 43 degrees but wind light, so I decided to see if fish were in the usual spots when weather gets cold. I went out from 12:45 PM to 3:45 PM and caught 68: 60 mostly big whites, 4 legal hybrids, 2 short hybrids, a cat and a big yellow bass. For me, winter fishing amounts to finding fish on 20+ fow structures, setting up on top of them and fishing straight down as I thump the boat. Like dead-sticking except I'm on structure and working a #4 Mepps. Fish were plentiful along the bottom at Long Ridge and Long Ridge West in 21 to 23 fow. In addition to reeling or lifting the Mepps up slowly from the bottom, I caught a few casting out and working it back to the boat like normal.
I also caught a few at Saint Annes Point West in 21 fow. I finished at Long Ridge West, and they never stopped biting. I was going to fish long enough to catch a limit, but the sun came out and wind got even lighter - it warmed up - very pleasant - so I stayed longer. Water temp was down to 57 degrees F.

Saturday Nov. 23: Got out about 12:30 PM today. Saw a guide boat with several customers at Saint Annes Point West, so I eased over to see how they were doing. The guide just said fish were moving away from him. I looked around and saw some fish there, called guide's attention to it and then eased over to Saint Annes Point East. It has been holding fish every time I go there lately, and they were still there today - right on top of the point in 12 to 14 fow. I set up up wind of them and used the standard Mepps method. It was a fish almost every cast. I caught 25 whites, 4 keeper yellow bass, a 17 inch hybrid and a cat before I decided to check out some other spots. Headed east to Swing-set Hump and found fish in 18 to 20 fow . Left after catching 5 whites to check out Flag-pole Point. Caught 5 more whites and a nice cat there. Last spot was 60 Acre Hump but didn't find enough to stop and fish, so headed back to house at 2:30 to watch Aggie and Baylor football.

Glad to hear the regular mepps methods still works with water temps in the 50s, Dennis. Shallow too. Hubbard is about 3 to 4 ft low now. I went out from noon to 3pm today. Water temp 56f. Thumped deep, looked shallow for goose bumps on the floor. Graph looks like a desert. NADA. Hubbard sucks! Lol

Thanks for all you do, DC thumb
