Gonna put the rod on a curado dc reel.... looking for something wth a fairly light feel and good for squarebills and medium size crankbaits. No specific price range. Thanks

Medium power rod with moderate fast action, 6'10"-7'3". Strong butt section but with a parabolic action. You can spend 80 bucks to 650, anywhere in between. I personally use 2 that I like; a G.Loomis E6X 843C CBR, and an IMX-Pro 843C CBR. Both seven-footers with M weight Mod F action. I also have a Dobyns Fury 705C CB that is a MH weight with a Mod F tip, and for $120 it's a bomb. The E6X is $189, and since cranks are basically reaction bites, the super sensitivity of the higher dollar rods is financial overkill, IMHO.

I'll second the E6X rods. I have both the 843c and the 845c for small and medium baits. They transmit the feel when bouncing off rocks or dragging across the grass quit well.

My go to crank bait rod is a St. Croix Premiere. They are about $150 and worth every penny. The 6'6" medium fast is very comfortable for the square bills and shallow crank baits.

Did get in the curado 150dc reel. Hadnt bought a rod for it yet... this is my best reel now.... nearly impossible to backlash and casts super far and reels smooth... not super light but it is a fairly light reel... makes a weird sound when u cast it but doesnt bother me

Are those fiberglass rods? Or some kind of hybrid? What dies the “c” stand for? Cranking? Composite? I was looking at cranking rods last night. Some said “composite cranker” on them.

I thought composite could mean just about any substrate. Am I over thinking.?

Imx pro 843c im seeing is $325 new... i kinda decided now to stay between 80 to $150 price range

From what I can tell they are graphite, just not sure they are 100%. The diameter of the blanks is thin and light compared to most glass rods as well. Price is a bit steep compared to most crankbait rods but I like mine so I guess thats all that really matters.

They look and feel like a really good rod for the money. Which one do you like better for 1.5 sized square bills?

For 1.5's and lipless crankbaits under 3/8oz. I prefer the 843. The rod almost feels too light but have to say I dont think I've had a fish shake one off with it. Anything larger and I use the 845.

I had to go back and edit my post. For some reason I had 2 weight on my mind because a couple of my worm rods from Loomis are that weight. The E6X crank bait rods are a 843 and 845. Total brain fart.

"C" stands for Casting Rod. Spinning rods will have an "S" in the model number. EX: 843S SJR
