You can, live bait works great year around but the artificial bite is so good this time of year I don't even think about using shad

My last outing it was 50/50 on what I caught hybrids on but I didn’t catch much that day so not the best day to base decisions on. Half hit live shad and half hit my magnum 7 inch zoom fluke deadsticking. I’m betting after this cold front it will push us into full deadsticking mode and won’t be worth using live shad. Had several strike the shad without getting hooked making me think deadsticking likely would be best approach before the cold front even hit...
