Musk has a habit of over promising and under delivering, in my opinion. I’ll give it a while before I’m all in on electric vehicles. Looks good on paper. I hope it is as good as he says.

There are charging stations around town, but not near enough and sometimes it may take 2-3 hours to get enough charge to get back home at those stations.

That sounds like he has the model with the single motor not very good for trips over 200 mile. The all wheel drive with dual motor gets over 300 miles. Charging stations are showing up all over hell there is 1 or 2 in Brenham. I think they charge in 1 to 1.5 hours. The wife wanted one and I check the out but never found out how much to get a full charge. A long trip can be done with some planning

I would buy one if it gets 400 mile per charge.

The last breakdown of an electric truck that I saw, the entire bed was batteries.

I haven’t even considered buying an electric vehicle or looked at the costs. I do know I cringe at the price when I have to replace 3 trolling motor batteries! What does it cost to replace them in a vehicle and can you do it yourself or have to pay the dealer? Wonder how that price compares to gas/ diesel for the life of the batteries.

The charge rate and availability of charging is getting better. Level 2 chargers are now the norm for offices, which give a good amount of charge in a few hours. Retail is installing level 3 now, charge is good in about an hour while you go shop. Like anything it will take time to become an option for more folks but it’s headed in the right direction.

Wait until you guys discover reverse charging.

Wait until these fools make something that can run between 3-5 jobsites per day (while under construction and without permanent power) and can carry me about 250 miles while intermittently pulling a trailer at 80-85 mph, and don’t cost more than $35k. THEN I will think about it.

Tesla’s are ugly AF. And wha do you do when you need to drive 6 hours? Stop at a charging station for a couple of hours? BS. We’re headed to Lubbock this weekend in the Benz. That Diesel engine will go 700 miles on 1 tank. It takes 10 minutes to refill it. Ain’t got the time or the patience to wait on an electric car.

There a bunch of manufacturers that are coming out with all electrics.

This truck is advertised at 49k means that it will probably be around 65k or more when it comes out. The price for electricity for their cars is around 3c per mile so the truck will probably be double that. Thats equivalent of 41 mpg.
But wait, you get all the other conveniences of a Tesla. Higher repair costs, higher parts prices and the battery will probably last 10 years or more with a replacement cost of (guess) 50k.

You’re talking like a Republican. I’m confused!

When I can pull up to a charging station and "fill up" on electricity in 15 minutes, then drive away with a full charge, then I'll consider one. I used to go to Rudy's on 290 at least once a week. The same people were there every time I walked in and still there when I left. I don't want to have to fill anything up every day.

BTW - who is paying off Buc-ee's to have those charging stations there? And who is paying for the electricity? The gubment? Which means you and me?!?!

You have to pay to charge at the Tesla charging stations. Heck, Denny’s here in Nac has at least 5 of them.

“The Tesla Model X can be purchased with battery packs of different capacities between 60 to 100 kilowatt hours (kWh).

Let’s assume you own the Model X with a 100 kWh battery and you pay the national average cost for power across the United States of 13 cents per kWh. Let's also allow for a charging efficiency of 85% — that's the usual efficiency for standard (Level 2) home charging stations, according to research studies.

Based on the above, it will cost $15.29 for a full charge. Given this car has a range of 295 miles, the cost per mile is 5.2 cents, or $5.20 per 100 miles driven. “

But yet, the country that your Mercedes comes from outlawed the combustion engine by 2030.
