Looking for the best price on a new rain suit that will keep me dry.
Trying not to spend $800 if I don’t have to, any recommendations?

I have read a LOT of threads on this lately and the census says that the 100mph is probably the best for the money. With that being said, there are better products out there, but you will pay for them. I have to replace my jacket this year.

100 mph suit here. It's somewhat bulky imo, but I haven't tried the others to know the difference. I like it though.

I've had a 100mph suit for years. Best for cold and wet. If it's not raining I wear layers of other stuff. Don't overlook ski bibs for keeping warm.

I can always throw on a cheap rain jacket and pants over the ski bib and coat. I keep a frog togg set in the boat just in case weather changes.

I prefer Simms. I have both the Challenger and the Pro Dry suits and love them. They offer free shipping and free returns via their site. In addition they often have some great sales/clearance stuff on their.

If you are tall like me. Go with the Cabela's tall. BPS tall isn't very tall. All of my Gore-Tex rainwear is Cabela's Guidewear.

The main problem with 100mph is the stuff is heavy and you'll sweat to death in the summer. May as well not even have the jacket on. Simms Pro Dry is the thinnest coolest out there. Easy to layer underneath in the winter. It's hands down the best on the market, but the stuff is shamefully expensive.

Go to Field Supply website. At some point soon they’ll have rain gear on sale. I picked up a Frabil F4 suit for about $100. It’s so worth it.

If people regularly check their sales link on there they might get lucky and find what they want for really cheap prices. Especially if the discontinue something.

I have Cabelas Guide Wear, BPS 100 MPH and the Academy H20. For the $$$$ Academy H20 suits are hard to beat.

I like my academy h20 suit (jacket and overalls). Not too bulky. I'm guessing it was under $100.

I don’t like big, bulky rain gear

I have STORMR jacket and pants and really like them. Lightweight, affordable and will keep the wind off of you. I’ve used this gear in Canada when fishing in the cold rain or snow and it performed very well

My only complaint is the sizes run small

This is what I recommend. Not bulky and stiff like 100 mph.

I would look into the Carhartt Storm Defender. I ran Gill for 2 years but was hated the bibs (trousers), so I went with the Carhartt bibs for this year and like them so far. I have been in any heavy freezing rains yet, but I did buy a set for my son last year and he seemed to like them all the way through winter. They are kind of that mid range price, around $150-160 a piece - Bibs & Jacket.

The Gill was great too, I still use the jacket and love it, but that is in the $300 a piece price range and the "trousers" had awful functionality - great dryness and warmth, but no pockets and difficult to take a piss.

I went a couple of years with Frogg Toggs and layers and that worked out fine, somewhere in the $60-80 a piece range. But if your definition of "for the money" includes longevity then the Frogg Toggs are out.
