I went on my yearly Birthday bass bash on Lake Naconiche on 9-1. Got up early and was on the water before sunrise. Fished point near the ramp on the North side of lake. Holy Moly I had forgotten how much timber was in that lake. I fished to the bridge and even under it. Not one bite. Used a buzz bait, crankbait and worm. At about 9 am Moved to the other end of lake to fish some of the creek bends Found some fish on a bend in about 24 foot of water Spent the next hour working a worm though them to get three bites and boated all three. Biggest was about 3. Made a move to try to find another bend HOLY MOLY that lake is now full of so much fallen timber. I worked several areas that looked good on the Hummingbird SI. around 12 I began to fish the steep bank where the water was in the shade. More for me than me thinking the fish would be in the shade. Caught 5 more flipping the stacked up logs near the bank in the shade. Nothing more that 1 pound. But it was fun and I was getting to fish on my birthday. Loaded boat about 2:30 and headed back to Flint. Going back there when it is cooler and the Buzz bait bite might be awesome. Not many people on the lake. Great ramp! and Great Parking!

You're absolutely right, CTrigg! We're all waiting for these 100+ degrees to go away.

I've fished it a few times. Always heard it's stocked with Florida bass and they don't like the colder water. I'll see what happens next week when I'm in the area. I have to fish it when I am over there, love the lake. I've done very well in warmer days in the lay downs.

We just finished up our annual fall trip on Naconiche (kayak fishing trip). Was when that last cold front came in with all that rain just before end of Oct. Fishing was tough, no big ones caught this trip. Water temp was around 66 to 68. Think we managed only about 20 over 2 1/2 days. However, I was having a blast throwing a black top water frog across the pads and grass and shallower laydowns. Probably caught about 12 that way, missed several. Saw a guy's video where he was throwing a Lake Fork magic shad across that same grass I fished mostly and was able to draw them up out of the grass. I fished mostly the south side. I did have a couple break me off that I never got a look at, so maybe those were the hogs! Can't wait to go back though. Love that place.

For those of you that live up that way; do you think this little cold front will give the fish lockjaw? I am trying to decide whether I want to go up there or fish elsewhere.
