Guys, I am hoping to get some guidance on what trolling motor to get. I have a 17.5' aluminum boat and am wanting to start spider rigging for crappie and drifting for catfish. My front deck is kind of crowded with electronics and rod holder (especially with 2 people) and I liked the idea of leaving the foot pedal at home when spider rigging and putting it back in for bass fishing. Is the loss of response/feel from cable steer worth the extra room or am I over thinking it?

The remote should be just fine for spider riggin. You're not trying to be extra precise. I have Ultrex and use the remote for spider riggin. If you find a spot with several fish, and that happens often, then hit spot lock and catch 'em.
But for bass fishing, I'd definitely have the Ultrex. I can keep my hands on the rod and not have to look at the remote and use one hand to operate it. If you're going to spot lock and worm fish, either TM works. If it's time to work the bank or cover lots of area, I want the Ultrex.

Thanks Ken, I fish Caddo, which is pretty much all cover. I will just get good at putting it out of the way when spider rigging.
