I hate the name I wonder how they came up with it... I have no freaking Idea how to pronounce it... dang Dallas folks. It's named after the creek they are daming up to make the lake which is named after a tree.

Monkey ball? We always called em horse apple trees growing up but now days I hear everyone say bodarks.

Stopped one time somewhere that had a sign up saying worlds largest Osage Orange tree. He was a little disappointed when it turned out to be a plain old Bois D'arc tree.

Isn't it about time to build a decent lake around Houston? Maybe W/NW of Houston? That area up there is knee deep in them.

Where I'm from, it's hedge apple and we had 10-1 hedge apple trees to anything else. During the winter cutting wood, you come home looking like you lost a fight to 10 cats.

You'll probably get Lake Houston, Sheldon Reservoir, Lake Conroe, Lake Livingston, Lake Somerville and maybe Lake Texana. Do the same for Dallas. There are more than I can name. Why does this area need another lake?

DFW gets far less precipitation than Houston; thus, needs more reservoirs.

I'll dig up some flood pics of the bois d'arc, it has turned the ranch into an island twice.
that is the primary purpose, dfw water is second.

Everyone is welcome to the Kennedale Youth Outdoor Convention at the Kennedale Performing Arts Center on Jan. 11th. Dan Bennett is one of the presenters and will be presenting over Bois D’Arc Lake and Ralph Hall Reservoir. There is an incredible assembly of guest speakers presenting with tables in the lobby for 1 on 1 questions as well in between presenters. The link in listed in the Bass Fishing section.

Since NTWD paid to build it and runs this lake they will draw water when they need it. It will be cheaper than buying over there allotment at Fork . I expect it to be a lot like Cooper . It does not have a big watershed that feeds it.

Cooper 2.0! Look at the 90” waterline to the treatment plant. That will tell you all you need to know.

Saw an update the other day where TPWD has started stocking ponds around the lake with Florida hybrids.
