The company owner has decided to take the estimating department to his place in Port O'Conner the weekend of November 8th and I am told that we will be doing inshore fishing.

I'm no stranger to fishing salt water but this is the first time for me in Port O'Conner and I'm wondering what to expect for species of fish and how the fishing will be?

Any suggestions on artificial baits/lures to bring that would give me an edge would be greatly appreciated.

depends a lot on the weather. but generally, speckled trout, redfish, and flounder.

If you have cold front next weekend like this weekends fronts I'd focus on redfish and flounder as the dropping tide and fishing in channels benefits you. Trout can get really finicky in post cold front conditions.

that said if you have a south wind then this time of year can be some of the best fishing ever for all the above.

Generally, a walk the dog topwater like a zara spook or it's saltwater cousin the one knocker spook, spook junior, or small chuggers. Color is not really important. Clown, bone, or anything natural colored all work. it's not about the color, it's about finding the fish. Those fish didn't get the memo with the color chart attachment. Other baits, a spinner bait, weedless gold spoon, any soft plastics such as 3" grubs or sassy shad type baits work fine if you already have them. Rig them on 1/8th lead jig heads and go to work. Again color doesn't matter.. bone, pearl, purlple, green, chartreuse, pumkin, all catch fish. See above about the memo... they never got it.

if you want to buy something get a bone one knocker and some soft plastics such as norton sand eels in pumpkin chart tail.. those two will be fine and you can switch between the both of them and really have the hole trip covered. For flounder a 3" grub or sassy shad with 1/4 to 3/8th head bounced on bottom in cuts will catch just as many flounder as anything else. Some like gulp type baits for that but they'll hit anything that moves.
