The truck and boat drag races through all those lights in Granbury are always epic at 445am. Seen guys white smoking their tires trying to get off the red light fast enough to keep from getting passed by another boat. 80 mph is not uncommon on 144 between the racetrack and where the road narrows to a 2 lane also. Lol.

It amazes me there aren't a few pretty serious boat wrecks out there every year. Between the shotgun starts and the race up the river to the timber..... It gets pretty interesting some mornings.

I just wish all you dedicated bass guys would start catching tilapia out of the lake.

For the outsiders or newbies: welcome to my backyard! Don’t be afraid of what you will be reading here for the next 4 months or so. It’s just fictional reading for sitting around the fireplace on a slow/cold winter day. They are pumping water in from Granbury and lake is only like 1.5’ low and rising. Ramps are now fine. The infamous steep mountain road up to the upper parking/exit gets done by me regularly pulling a 21’ Ranger with a one ton diesel dually that will get stuck on wet grass. Never spun a tire. More urban lore. Come early and wait for hours. It will get you on the water literally minutes before the ones that showed up a few minutes before opening(do the math). “Non-fictional” reading?: Make reservations for weekends for next 4 months, Bring $30 CASH per rig and be prepared to have wasted a drive here when temperatures/humidity are just right and the lake is covered with fog and you are not allowed out into the lake to fish(safety precaution). Loading by yourself? Just move with a purpose! Boat ramp is 10 ramps wide! Come have fun....or stay home. That works too! laugh

I doubt that would deter many.

Great place to take kids learning to bass fish and set the hook as the action is great! With this said, if you want a better chance of catching a bass over 4 pounds though, I would go somewhere else as they are rare these days on this lake.

I think they need to get the "Open Monticello" post going first.
