Don't follow too close to anyone as they are leaving and going up the big hill. They may lose traction and come back down.

Launched for the first time there by myself last year this time, had no problems. Not sure what the big deal is. Fishing and otherwise.

No kidding, the couples tourney I fish always has their first tournament there, thinking about fishing something else, not a fan of all the bs that you have to go through to fish a tiny lake with 150 boats on it.

One of the gates at the spillway supposedly had problems last month. In order to get it fixed they drained the lake about 40". They have it fixed now, but the lake hasn't yet filled back up as last time I was there it was still about 18" low. Should be back to normal soon.
The middle two boat ramps have been closed because they are short ramps and people were backing their trailers off the ramp. Not sure if it is high enough yet to open those two middle ones back up.
Also on a new note their computer system has not been working too good as of late so it takes an extreme long time getting thru the gate.
If everyone would take a small piece of paper and write down your name, DL number, Cell Phone #, License Plate number of the vehicle you are driving it will go so much faster. Keep that paper with you and each time you go and just hand that to the attendant, they will write it all down and hand it back to you.

Seriously.
For me it is a 2 1/2 drive. Cost me 30 bucks for ramp fee. Get on the water say 7 and then they tell me to be off the water around 3:30 and be out of the park by 4. Since the drive is so long I want to fish till dark at least. And most times your not getting anything over 4 lbs and that just might be one or two of those. This is why I don't go over there unless I'm fishing a tourney.
Welsh is by far the best hot water lake now. Hell even Brady Branch is fun.

Do you guys really get in line at 2am?

I don't think I've ever got in line before 5am, and I can only remember a few times that I have not been in the water before they release you. All kidding aside, It's really not to bad if you have a partner with you to help launch and park. If you are by yourself on a weekend, I would suggest just sleeping in and get there after 8am or so. Line is gone by then. You will have to park a ways off, but the hill isn't the Mt Everest that some make it out to be on this thread.

Seen that more than once... the only positive is your boat can drain quickly

It amazes me that there are not more fights out there.
