For the 30+ years I have fished in Tennessee we started fishing at night for 2 reasons .... To avoid the recreational folks, and to catch bigger fish. Over the years it has proved to be more productive and obviously cooler than the daytime heat.
Do any of you folks routinely fish at night here?

All Summer long. Start about April / May and stop about well Now. LOL temps are what drives me. Once the time changes and we get light a bit later (March/ April) there will be a lot of after hours tourneys to join in.

Thanks Jody. Not much for tournaments anymore ... got my fill of that long ago. Love to bounce a spinnerbait after dark though.

I love night fishing, look forward to it all year long. I don't go once it gets cold, though. I don't love it that much. I fell in at night on Cypress Springs in July of last year. I wouldn't want to try it when it's 35 degrees outside.

Partner literally saved my life because I never could have gotten back into the boat by myself. Water that cold immobilizes you very fast. We always quit night fishing sometime around Thanksgiving. The fish will usually tell you when to quit because they stop feeding after dark.

I like to night fish. Much cooler and so much more peaceful not having to deal with the traffic. Many nights I am the only boat on the lake. I really enjoyed night fishing at Fork.

Night is also my favorite time to be kayak fishing. Started out by necessity since when I went fishing after work did not have much time before it got dark. Realized I am usually the only boat on the water, the wind usually calms down and it is very peaceful The wildlife also starts moving around near dark and I can also see the river otters occasionally. Definitely more gar sightings though they are not what I am fishing for. I will go out year round after dark, but have decided if it will be below 40 when I would get off the water that is too cold for me. Only drawback is I sometimes feel a little uncomfortable loading up my kayak when a vehicle will do a pass through of the parking lot or someone comes up to me I had not seen.

........ Many nights I am the only boat on the lake............... Well, Texas must be very different from Tennessee. On Friday nights you had to sit in line to get on a point or ledge.
