Looking to buy a new reel for throwing med to larger size glides, swimbaits, etc.. Top of the list are Lews Super Duty 300, Curado 200, Lews Super Duty GX3. I have looked at older Calcuttas also just not sure about the round reels. Any others i should consider or look at? Or any cons about any of these choices? Looking to stay at $200 or less and want something solid that will last. The reel would be mainly for 1-5 oz baits, paired up with a Dobyns Fury 795SB or an Okuma Guide Select 7'-11", I have been using the wrong reel for awhile and just want a dedicated reel for this.

Curado 200 is too light in the seat for the mid to top end of your weight range. I have two Calcutta 300E7's for 8" Hudds and Deps 250's and its a good fit. They don't make that model anymore, but the spool size is great.

Abu Revo Beast. Will work great if you wind up fishing for musky up north as well.

I have a Lew's Super Duty 300 on a Dobyns Fury 795SB. I throw big line-through swimbaits on it and I'm happy with the setup. The rod does overpower lures under 1.5 ounces but a for a 2 or 3 ounce glide bait, it's pretty good.

Can usually get two of these or one of each for $200

Quantum Monster 300--not the smoothest reel out of the box, but functional in the 1-5oz lure range.
On clearance everywhere at or below $100.

Abu Garcia C3 or C4 5600 at or below $100. Clearance price usually around $70

I would suggest a Lew’s Super Duty HD Wide Spool in 6.4:1. I’ve got Curados 3 300e’s my favorite for bigger baits 2 of each Tranx 200 & 300, and the Lews. The Lews works well with everything. I’ve been extremely impressed and am buying 2 more because it’s performed so well for me and handled mid and bigger baits.

Lexa 300 works pretty good and isn’t too expensive. I use that and a okuma 8’ swimbait rod, have about $250 in the whole setup

I just use a standard Lews super duty wide spool. It is smaller in size than the 300 series reels and it holds a ton of line.

I have the Lews Super Duty 300 and the Lexa 300 Wn. Both great reels but I find myself liking the Winn Grip knobs on the Lexa. I need to add them to the Lews.

I have both Super Duty 300 and Super Duty Wide Spool. The 300 is a good reel and comfortable for a bigger reel but I find that I prefer the Wide Spool because it's smaller. Both will get the job done.
