Planning a trip to Squaw Creek in a couple weeks and had some questions about the lake

1. How safe is it to run on this lake? Are there any areas that I should avoid?
2. Is the power plant running these days?
3. I've heard there is a $30 ramp fee. Is that still the case?

Any other info would be appreciated. Thanks

1. Anything to the north of the ramp unless you know your way, idle. Anything south of the ramp, haul butt...Also there’s a reason they have fog / steam delays you can’t see squat.

Another thing the ramp is steep, be sure you have good tires, get a good running start to make the almost vertical road leaving the parking lot. If you have four wheel drive you may want to use it.

Bring extra clothes just in case you fall in

Be prepared to sit in line

Get RSVP Atleast a week before you go, Friday’s are always more fun then sundays.

Dont forget to turn the lights off backing up. Yes, $30.

Tournaments every weekend. Long line until they open the gate. Size was down last year.

We may want to pin this post to the top until March or start a sub forum.

Get there early like at 2am and pull up to gate and sleep. There fore you are one of the first 5 or so and you don't have to wait behind all the Tourney guys and the most important part is you won't have to park up the hill. This is important part. You will likely beat WAWI there so you will be able to leave your headlights on if choose without having to go back to the end of the line. If he is in a bad mood your either going to get the hell beat out of ya or shot.

Man sounds like a popular lake. The fishing better be on fire if there are that many hoops to jump through smile. Thanks for the info guys

Need to be one of the first 20 or so boats to get lower level parking... I usually get there at 4:30-5am when I fish on the weekends and still cant get a spot on the lower level. 100+ boats on a 3000 acre lake can be quite the beating, its great if you get on the video game fishing and sit on the same spot all day but if you have to move around and pattern fish its no bueno... that's magnified in a big north or south wind as it will group all 100+ boats up in a few areas. I usually save 2 or 3 PTO days so I can pick and choose a few Thursday or Fridays for Squaw, totally different body of water on Thursday and Friday.

Don't forget, if you are launching solo just float it off the trailer and have someone take you to your boat. Keep it moving.

Theres a guy in a black ranger who dumps his boat. Some time he screams at you if you dont
hit your lights and do the same. Its cash only also. Have fun. It's not as much of a hassle as it seems.

I also show up later when the lines died down. I get more sleep in
my bed and not staring at tail lights for an hour.

The ramps are not only steep, they are short also, so make sure you do not drive off the end of the ramp. I have seen it happen several times in the past.
