Never heard of it before, but my captain got to sample it few weeks ago. He is retiring after 40 years and I’m trying to find it for a retirement gift. Appears it’s very hard to locate. Anybody know where I can get him a jug? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Call around to smaller, mom & pop liquor stores. I have only ever seen 1 bottle and that was in a Marriott hotel bar outside of Chicago.

Bourbon is really hot right now, lots of designer stuff for lack of a better word is hard to find.

They are. Its the premium brand of Buffalo Trace.

Little bit of useless knowledge, Garrison Brothers first still was an old Buffalo Trace still.

Avoid any of the big chain stores, even if they have it they most likely are holding it in the back for someone. Don't call, nobody is going to tell you the truth over the phone. Hit up small mom and pop type liquor stores, but to be honest your chances are slim, if you can find it chances are it will be marked up well over retail. There are guys that drive around to every liquor store in the area buying hard to find Bourbons and selling them on the illegal secondary market for crazy high prices. For example Weller 12 1.75L $43 retail goes for as high as $300 on the secondary market. The bourbon market is absolutely nuts right now.

Blantons is the best single barrel available. It has a cult following and the thoroughbred/cork tops are collector items now. Find a local small shop and get to know the owner and get it on order.

I have a bottle at all times. One place here in longview that I know has it and they only have a bottle or two at a time.

I couldn't even buy blantons when I went to the buffalo trace distillery in May. You just have to hit the store on the right day. Zardnack the parent company of buffalo trace tried to create a shortage in the bourbon market to raise the price, but no one else went along.

Like said above, stop at every small liquor store you see and you may get lucky. In March i stopped at a liquor store in Creede, Co and they had a bottle. i asked them about it and they had no idea that it was anything special. said it had just been sittin there for a few weeks.

When we go to " Texas" restaurant in Plano you have to ask for it. They keep it in the Managers office. As to where to buy a bottle not sure.
