I do the same thing, without the salt. It makes fileting crappie so much easier and faster.

I do the same thing, without the salt. It makes fileting crappie so much easier and faster. You might give the salt a try and see. A good slush without salt cools them fast and keeps them fresh, but the salt firms them up, kills them quick, and cools them even faster. They are definitely easier to fillet with higher yields with the salt.

Also does wonders for ice cold beer Watch the salt or you will have frozen beer

If I go on a 2-3 day trip, will keeping the fish in this slurry for multiple days compromise the quality of the fish? I've always used frozen milk jugs but it's a hassle for me.

We've kept them in there for two days with excellent quality - better than frozen milk jugs. I don't think we've done three days.
