Quickly cooling water typically makes for sporadic carping here in Quebec. I wasn't able to put in too much time for carp, but managed to land a few mid size, and put a new friend onto his first few carp as well.

Luckily, we have some bigger bottom feeders (lake sturgeon) that bite real well in October, which is the last legal month to get them. Got out for them once, and beat my PB twice on that outing.
The fight one these is insane, caught them on bottom in over 45 feet of water, took about 15 minutes each just to get them off bottom.

Awesome, congrats on the PBs! cheers The larger Sturgeon species are on my list to target one of these days, all we have down here in TX are Shovelnose

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

Yeah, White stuugeon out West have been on my freshwater bucket list for a few years now. Hope to get out to BC to try for some giants in 2020. They grow much bigger than our lake sturgeons out here, which rarely reach 100 lbs.

By far the best fights in freshwater. To compare with some of your local freshwater species, they have more power than big blue cats or alligator gar, and the stamina is seemingly endless too. Pity the season here closes for them on October 31st, the fishing for them likely only gets better until first ice.
