Put in a lot of hours at a lake with nothing to show for it and finally on the 5th outing I hit the jackpot! Nabbed myself my first ever fish from the water and my new PB. Well worth the wait! It certainly took some doing as I'd already thrown almost everything at these fish so I changed it up a bit - I began using single hookbaits (no packbait/method mix). This fish fell to a 20mm boilie tipped with a 10mm pop-up boilie on a bolt-rig tied with a size 4 Korda Kamakura fished over a bed of the same 20mm boilies. Now that that word salad is out of the way - lol - let's see the pictures!

My favorite part - the release. Love watching these fish swim away!

Awesome fish and HUGE congratulations on your new PB! bow_down

Side Note: You might want to check the catch&release record for that water body for common carp. 35" Might be the new C&R record. If there is no C&R record your fish would be it. If there is one under 35" yours would beat it. Just a thought. Again super fish. cheers

Regardless, it defiantly would qualify for a BIG FISH award. Great looking monster. laugh

Thanks for the tip! I may end up submitting it just to tick a box off for the Elite Angler award.

Yessir! They're all chunky here, super healthy water. If only they were easier to catch!

Great catch very nice fish the ones here in austin that are usually around 36in plus are 30+ pounds old fish though of course.
That fish is what Lbl fish are in size and inches thats great to see other waters in the state have them. the ratio is on point the new generation here in Austin are more short and stocky cant wait for them to get bigger.
i would love to see what else comes out of where you getting them good luck bro

Oh baby, that's a good one. Congratulations. I know you put in the hours and you deserve the pay off. When you measure the fish, make sure you lay the tape on the ground instead of measuring the contour of the fish. I only mention it because I saw a guy get a ticket just a few months ago for measuring the fish along the contour of the body. Total length and contour length can be very different on big fish and TPWD uses total length. You can stretch out or pinch the tail, so on your fish the 35" length could still be correct. In any case, you definitely have a big fish award since a common carp only has to be 30". The catch and release state record is 42.0 inches, but as Bank-always Fishing indicated, you should have a waterbody catch and release record as well. That fish will definitely but a smile on your face.
