Now that I have fished a few tournaments where the prize is a boat, I am wondering how do you split that with your partner? What do y'all think is fair?

50/50 on boat sale. If one of you want the boat, agree on what price the other will pay the pardner before the tournament.

If that partner is a good friend and wants a boat sell your half cheap. If neither of you need the boat then sell it and split the money.

There are some cases where the tourney trail will offer a cash prize in lieu of the boat which makes it easier. However, if the boat is the only way to go, you should decide how you are going to handle that upfront. If you price the boat right, it should sell fast especially if its a certificate vs the actual boat at the event.

As said above....

Sell 50/50 or pay the agreed upon price to purchase the other's half.

sell boat split 50/50.

agree before tourney how to split if one partner wants to keep the boat. If so, then you go get 3 quotes on same like kind boat, one from each dealer, average price and that is sales price for the split. Whatever you do agree before hand...makes things easier.

I've been close to winning a boat with my partner many years ago. We were only 8 places away, out of 250 boats. That's the closest I've been. But that's about all I can brag about there. woot
