Well I have a couple of weeks off this fall and want to make my first trip to Tawakoni for blue cats. Right now looking at a Tuesday-Thursday November 5-7th. Just starting drifting for catfish last year with limited success on EM and a couple of trips to Benbrook. Not knowing anything about the lake for catfish, anyone want to give me some pointers for depths and possibly general areas of the lake to take a look at? Not looking for anyone’s secret spots or anything, but looking for a community hole that isn’t anything new and should have a few fish in it. Just a newbie that is going to haul his tin boat out and relax away from the corporate world for a few days. Been chasing the green fish tournament trail for a long time, but I gotta admit I’m getting bit by the slime bug! Grown up rod and reel/trot line fishing for channels, but these Blue Cat just have a whole different feeling of conquest about them.
Still trying to get everything set up correctly my for tin boat. 17'6" w 60 hp Tracker. Made up two nice rod mounts for drifting that hold 5 rods each Still working on getting dedicated catfish rod/reels, but my heavy bass stuff has been working fine for now.

Might try drifting from two mile bridge north a couple of miles Thanks Tom. I know that area pretty well from my tournaments. Was just thinking that it may not be deep enough up there. Should I concentrate on the channel or look for big flats on creek bends?

Tawakoni is a catfish factory. Think like this, they are going to be chasing the schools of shad. I've done best on main lake points in the spring on Tawakoni, but I'd bet try up in the creeks on points up shallow would be the ticket.

I would like to first say good luck on your trip. Also would like to add that TWOK can get real ugly real quick. Be careful

I tried TWOK for the first time last weekend and I'm nervous to go back . I was doing my best to avoid the tree's and still found one in 30 ft of water that broke my prop . And I'm surprised at how shallow the water gets in areas when your still 1/2 mile from shore .

several things to remember. Twok is great, but Twok can humble you in a heartbeat. I'm a seasoned professional catfisherman. I have shown up to twok with high Hopes and left feeling like I didnt have a clue how to fish. So if you do struggle just go again.. make several trips November-March on twok with Fresh bait. and chances are you will nail them. Also!!! dont get caught up in drifting. drifting is not THE way to catch catfish. it's just a tool in your box. November I would prob start off in 2 ft then progress deeper. I would really look heavy in 4 to 10ft in timber as well.

Thanks Guys!
Looking forward to getting a little time off to relax on the water not chasing the green fish. Guess I need to start getting rods and reels together for the trip.

For Sure!! Hopefully finding big enough bait wont be an issue. I may end up catching some here and freezing them for the trip
