Going to head down to Belize for a couple weeks. Found out the have good bonefishing there. I have never targeted bonefish, and accordingly, don’t know what gear to take along. I could sure use some suggestions on a spinning setup and some guidance on artificial baits for them. Any/all information and suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Read those not sure anyone in Texas targets bonefish. I have only ever caught them in Keys in Florida.

I go to bahamas every year and always get a guide for bone fishing. What a blast! All I use is a Med/heavy travel spinning rod, 8lb floro, and crappie grub on 1/4oz jig head tipped with a piece of shrimp

Just got back last month. I took two fenwick travel rods with 3000 sized penn spinfisher VI on them. They were bullet proof which is what you need there. Not any great tackle shops at all. I also took a Orvis Recon fly rod and caught way more fish on the fly than with the spinning rod. Take a trip to caye caulker. Very cool island ask some locals you want to feed the tarpon and they will tell you where to go. I have some cool go pro footage of feeding them.

Nice... yeah it's a light set up for the bone fish.. they are little speed demons and can peel some drag. 3000 with a med light rod is fine. 8lb test for clear water.

I'm always hitting decent bonefish. My best rigs are Okuma's 12' Nesika or Rockaway i recommend the Rock more) using a Blue Azores 4K. Light weight rig. Line i use braid, i used to use 10lb but now i bait cast using 20lb. But if you're spin casting stick w/the 10lb (can go 12lb/15lb for added security). Bring an extra reel spool on you as well and/or a refill spool.
