Iā€™m pretty sure every living thing has a purpose-
Is the fall cricket hatch somewhat like the salmon run that feeds the bears and eagles?
Is something feeding on all these little black dudes?
All I see mostly is them just hunkering around lights at night and looking for a shady place when daylight hits-

Whatever is supposed to be eating them is doing a poor job. We have hundreds that die on our porch and they just pile up.I have to sweep them up daily or they stink!

Lol I had just swept mine before I posted that, I was hoping I could find out what is supposed to be feasting on the things-

We have lizards around my house and I think they eat a lot of them.

Back in the late 90s we were opening a store in cleburne. I pulled up and could not see half the yellow building as it was covered in 10s of thousands of crickets. Got an exterminator out with a giant tank of something and he hosed the whole building. We swept up giant garbage cans full, about half a dumpster. They had gotten in the walls and the smell which is a sick sweet smell lingered for weeks. It was plague like stuff.

Had the same thing happen at a convenience store that we opened about the same time frame, never seen anything like that.

I remember that plague like it was yesterday, the dealerships were awful, crickets everywhere we were taping the doors shut at night to slow them down. The following rodent boom was terrible as well, the rats and mice feasted on the and multiplied outta control , then the rat damage to wiring was the next can o worms
