Clifford Wiedman recently did some research on stocking reports over the last twelve years and posted his findings on FB. It was pretty interesting but very misleading on fish per acre over the twelve year period. The figures were the total of the stockings which did not take into account of a probable survivor rate of 5% or less for the first year alone. It didn't take into account natural spawn on the given body of water which would show a drastically higher fish per acre if figured into the scenario. It did point to which lakes TPWD was putting more fingerlings and fry in annually. Personally I haven't ever read anything in TPWD shock survey reports that told actual size and count on fish just a generalized overall report and suggested management strategies. A heads up on Cliffords report is Livingston stocking haven't been happening until last year on the large scale. The stockings have been in the millions for stripers during the same time frame though and I verified his findings with a few key clicks of my own. This information is easily accessible and free to all if you really want to know. I think I'd rather fish a lake with half the fish per acre if they are quality fish. Just my two cents worth. Tight lines!

I hope I never have to go back to Livingston.

This doesn't surprise me from the Livingston survey...

Largemouth Bass: Historically, Largemouth Bass abundance has been relatively low. Electrofishing catch rates did increase in 2016, but few legal-size fish were available to anglers.

What about Fayette. This has to rank up there.

Very much so... most Iā€™d say Lake Kiowa or atleast when I was there all the time.

While it's a small lake (203 acres) and is usually used as an alternative to Conroe when the winds get high, Lake Raven has a lot fish per acre. Unfortunately, sometimes you'd swear there wasn't any at all in the lake. Below is a TPWD survey report and also a video by William B Tedrick when he went with the TPWD boys to see the results of a electroshock survey of Raven. Pretty amazing video....................
