Hello everyone,

Finally tried to do some hybrid fishing yesterday after taking a break and targeting channel catfish while the summer hybrid bite got really tough at Fort Phantom. Hybrids are finally starting to school up but were not very cooperative. Water depth 24-28 fow. I could not get them to anything artificial and even with live shad the bite was very slow despite sitting on hundreds of fish.

Shallow water channel catfish bite has pretty well stopped based on my efforts yesterday.

Trying to post a few pics but site via my phone is acting weird.

Thanks for the report Clay, I was curious if anyone had tried their hand with the hybrids on FPH lately. I’ve been to busy working and getting things ready for deer season with the kids. Don’t know if you have ever trolled any umbrella rigs but I’ve been wanting to give them a try. Looks like they could possibly create some reaction strikes this time of year especially if they matched the right bait size.

I’ve downrigged with umbrella rigs earlier this year and honestly didn’t have any luck. I’ve actually had terrible luck with artificial baits this year other than in winter and early spring.

Water temp was 63-66 degrees. Coldest on a wind blown bank

Since I had asked about umbrella rigs I thought I’d share this video.

I tried deadsticking without any luck that day but won’t be long before that’s the method.
