Apparently a dishwasher can still have power in it for a few seconds even after you unplug it from the wall. Ask me how i know that OUCH.

I know of a man being killed by an unplugged microwave.
It happens.

Its the capacitor that stores voltage, much the same way a battery does.

The nasty thing about the capacitor is that unlike a battery that releases stored energy over time...the capacitor fires like a gun.

Electricity killed me once. Came from a 440 service panel. Blew a chunk out of my side and stopped my heart. But luckily the defibrillator was charged and brought me back. Now when working around the house I seem to be drawn to getting hit. Shocking experience. People have died from messing with phone lines.

My dad worked for TXU for 37 years. Thankfully, he taught me a healthy respect for electricity. Outside of a ceiling fan or light switch, me no messy with electricity.

I had to ride the lightning when I certified as a Taser instructor. They tell me I screamed "STOP!!!!!!!!" at the top of my lungs somewhere between three thousand and five thousand times during that short couple of seconds................. I ain't doin' it again!

How long is it going to take?

(In all seriousness, that’s a terrible way to go. Sorry to hear that.)

My Dad taught me to keep one hand in my pocket when working with electricity. Told me he didn't care if I was playing marbles or shooting pool but said it would keep me from getting fried.

Used to be common at work to leave a small capacitor charged ,laying on the counter ,and wait to see who would pick it up and get shocked by it.

Yep...gotta be careful any time you are tinkering with electricity. Got 240 once that knocked me back about 10 feet and gave me about 10 seconds of blackness... I was very thankful that i ended up on the ground rather than under it... WAY more careful now days
