EDS was where I got my start. Although, I did not stay at EDS. I did continue down the computer technology track. I have been with the same company for 32 years.

I bet a lot of us probably share that same thought process. I had no earthly clue I would end up in the field I'm in. Always hate it at Career Day deals we do because all the other FF have really cool stories about why they became a FF.....except me.... eeks

Why did you become a FF ?

I went premed fresh out of HS for 3 semesters but was too immature to follow through. I regret it tremendously now. I quit college and worked a few jobs and ended up doing HVAC. After about 10 years I decided my body didn't like it (I made OK dough). Did night classes to get my pre-reqs and quit for 2.5 years of nursing school. been at it 29 years.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a garbage man. I thought they only had to work 2 days a week!

I figured I would be an investigator, flying around exotic locations in helicopters with my friend, solving mysteries, and driving a Ferrari, so no. Not at all.

Didn't know what I wanted to do for a career. Went to a junior college and practically threw some darts at a dartboard to decide my fate.

Sort of. I dropped out of engineering in college, and ended up running the engineering dept. where I work.

I went to school to be a refrigeration A/C Tech, Took a job as a plant operator with hopes of being a company electrician.

Plant operated for 35 yrs. Now i'm in pipeline / Damage control. But I have never called anyone to work on my air conditioner. I have installed a few for myself and friends.

Always wanted to do what I do as long as I can remember. December 2nd will be my last day. 35 years is enough. Time to turn it over to the young guys.

My 20 year career in supply chain ended last year. Now I work for a natural gas company.

I would not have chosen either profession coming out of high school but I regret not working for the gas company earlier in life.

worked in printing business while in college, went to law school and worked part time for a title lawyer, hated it and law school so stayed in printing business for few years after college then went to work for A.C.Neilsen Co. as field auditor and lived in the Miss. delta...loved the hunting/fishing,hated the job especially all the traveling...ending up applying and getting the job as manager of the local mall which led me to several promotions to bigger mall/shopping center management jobs...retired almost 15 years ago and nobody in history of the world has enjoyed NOT WORKING more than me....
