So three out of 170 going to Elites. How many to the Opens?

I wonder where Bryan Thrift and Scott Martin wind up in all of this? I wish BASS would give a few special exemptions to get the guys who have been at the Top of FLW Angler of the year. Maybe the Top 10 average AOY for the last 5 years of the guys that are still on the FLW Tour.

I prefer the BASS format. I watch and follow the FLW. I will watch the BPT Tour but really don’t follow it. Tried to like it. Just lost interest.

Thrift said he's staying with FLW, Martins silence makes me think he may retire like Luke Duncan and go youtube only, from his podcast he heard BASS is giving no free passes this year like they had to last year, have to qualify through the opens. Smart move by BASS IMO, no worse way to disenfranchise your clientele by giving free passes.

Thrift may stay with FLW until they treat him like a second class fisherman. Then I bet he bolts.

Why would they treat him like a second class fisherman. That makes no sense

Did he get an invite to "the holy grail of bass fishing" (aka the BPT?) If not then that would be a slap in the face if he is fishing the tour because essentially FLW becomes the minor leagues of fishing with this new merger. He will go from the face of the flw, to another person trying to qualify for the bpt. So in fact my comment does make sense, it just required a hint of thinking.

They are still giving those guys tour level payout.

Apparently he did toward the end last year after some guys opted to stay with BASS but he declined.

The field is set at 80. How the h*ll would he get an invite. Did some one from MLF do something to you. You sure have an issue with them

Nope. Just don't like the format or the people who constantly push the idea that mlf is THE ONLY WAY. You don't like my view on the trail then read another comment.

They will tell you that your opinion is “annoying”, even though you are posting in a FLW-BASS thread. They can’t resist reading and responding to any dislike of the mlf/bpt. The love for the professional anglers with known, to them names, is strong.....almost creepily strong. Just the mere comment about us not liking the mlf format, gives these guys chills about not being able to see their superstars on discovery network. It seems many want to see professional fishing go the way of football, where all the anglers get paid to show up. Some of us guys, would like to see them actually have to win, to get paid. If they can’t win, they shouldn’t be there.

Not going to lie. The bpt is taking a little bit of a liberal socialist stance. Everyone gets a piece whether you catch or not. Also, no entry fees for now. You want to see how well socialism works, give that format a few years.
