Dad and I went to the American Carp Society's annual Mill Creek Cup this year for a chance to catch some gold and potentially win some gold. Fished for 47 hours from 12:00 noon on Friday to 11:00AM Sunday through brutal conditions. Rain and a huge cold front dropped air temps to 38 degrees, water was nice and warm but that didn't stop the fish from hunkering down and shutting off for the cold weather. Still managed to eek out a few bites, albeit mostly from Channel and Bullhead Catfish. With the fishing being so slow I had plenty of time to hang out with the anglers in the pegs adjacent to ours, which just so happened to be people I knew quite well! Had tons of fun, I'll definitely try to be back for the next year. Hopefully conditions are a bit more favorable then!

Our swim for the event in the photos above, as you can see from the "before" photo (#3) there was definitely a bit of machete action involved

The only Carp I caught during the whole event! 15lbs 14oz, my first ever from Mill Creek. There were only 21 Carp caught among 17 teams during the 3 day event so I count myself lucky to have caught one of 'em!

Catfish came in droves. Bullheads and Channels both. I'll share my biggest. This guy was obviously enjoying all of the chum I put out for the Carp

Nice Yellow Bullhead! This guy behaved himself so well until I went to release him, flopped something fierce and drove his poisonous fins right into my hand. First time I've ever been finned by a catfish!

And the largest Brown Bullhead I managed - strangely enough I had more Channel Catfish than Bullheads, which is unusual for this lake. Typically it's 10-1 in favor of the Bullheads!

Thanks Banker! I'm a huge fan of the variety, I even kayaked about for a bit to see if I could tempt any Redears to bite but they weren't interested in anything I had to offer
