This front might just get them moving up into the creeks. I'm trying to shame the Fishtales dude into taking a trip up Yegua or Nails grin It's really hard to pry him out of his cozy ranch though. roflmao

I drove out and checked on some of the creeks this morning. I started at Irwin Bridge. I fished around the bridge for a while but only caught 1 small crappie. I checked downstream as well. The deep hole at the bridge is holding water fairly well at this time. Downstream it is very low. Water was fishable. I took pictures of the Nails and Cedar at 125. They definitely need a good good flushing. Jardelle was holding up pretty well.

Wow! Thanks for the pics, J-Moe. You're not lying about Nails & Cedar needing a good rain. If we don't get a good rain it looks like the lower Yegua will be the best place to catch crappie this fall.

That's my thought. If I try it will either be at Wolf Pond or not far upstream of flag pond cut. That means its a kayak trip from Nails Creek boat ramp. Probably need to give it another week or 2 before I try.

J-Moe and I will be kayaking up the Yegua from the Nails Creek boat ramp on Saturday October19th. We are planning to launch around 7am. We might be a little early for the best crappie bite but history tells us that these conditions are about the best we can expect. The creek also has good numbers of black bass and catfish year-round so if any of you have been wanting to hit the creek now is the time.. join us if you can.

I can't make it on Saturday, but good luck guys! Creek conditions should be excellent for catching crappie in Yegua. Going to be a hot one, so bring some water.

Anybody know if Nails Creek State Park is still renting kayaks? I'm thinking of going on Sunday, but don't have a good way of transporting my kayak right now.

big z, you can definitely bank fish yegua creek. Best place for easy access is Irwin bridge off of CR124.

you can park at Irwins' Bridge and walk down the creek or park somewhere near Newman's Bottom (although i think there is no close parking there.)

Yeah, Newman's is about a mile walk right now, but you can find some deeper pools there.
