I've got little knowledge about line counter reels other than what they do, count the number of feet of line. And are frequently used for trolling or depth fishing with bait. I've got one more rod to set up for a little heavier action on inland fish with 20lb and up line for cats, stripers, ect. I'm wondering if there are reels designed to be cast as smoothly as standard level wind and spinning reels? Thanks for all input.

I've used a number of them, and no they're not nearly as castable as baitcasters and spinning reels.
With practice, I can get maybe 50 feet casts with a bait weight appropriate for the rod.
If you want to be able to cast and know how much line you have out, the better approach is to spool with Power Pro Depth Hunter line. It works well on any spinning or bait casting reel. Great double duty for applications when you need to know line out and also need to cast with the same rod.
