Your killing me smalls! I read the post and I immediately thought late 70’s early 80’s. Getting to the ramp about 6 pm fishing all night and the next day in the snow and freezing my butt off cold catching fish after fish, in the fog so thick you could barely see the front of the boat and then driving back to Mesquite trying not to doze off. Now them was the good ole days. banana

What year was it the smokestack fell? I went 4 weekends in a row that spring, the best 4 weekends of fishing I've ever had anywhere. I found a bare spot about the size of a bus surrounded by super thick weeds and never moved the boat, it was a 4 to 9 pounder almost every cast for a couple of hours, leave it for an hour and go back and do it again. I found it by accident, my electronics were junk back then. I came back the second weekend with my dad, hoping I could get him on them and it's probably my best fishing memory with him. I'll never forget the look on his face when we started catching them like that. I brought my brother and my mom the following weeks lol. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Does anyone know if you can still put a canoe or Kayak on Monti? I know the ramp and park are closed but is the actual lake closed to access?

The lake is not closed. I guess you could put in at the end of the car bridge. I see people fishing from there all the time.
