"Three major insurance companies are suing PG&E over the billions of dollars in claims they expect to face from the Camp Fire.

The lawsuits, by Allstate Insurance Co., State Farm and USAA, represent another potentially staggering blow to PG&E, which has already acknowledged that problems occurred on a high-voltage transmission tower near the spot where the fire started Nov. 8. Multiple lawsuits have already been filed by Camp Fire survivors, and the company is under intense scrutiny by Cal Fire, the Public Utilities Commission and federal prosecutors."

I believe that this ultimate goal is in the article https://www.kqed.org/science/1948809/searchable-map-of-bay-area-power-outages

Why Can’t the State Take Over PG&E and Solve This Mess?

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, though there’s no real model for a state taking over a publicly traded utility of this size. We also have yet to see the political will for this to occur. One reason is that taxpayers would have to take on the financial responsibility that just bankrupted PG&E — liability for its aging, unsafe electrical grid.

Didn't most of that stem from the Clinton Administration's stopping all the logging and stopping the building and upkeep of Forestry Service Roads?

PG&E is a poorly run company from a safety standpoint. They have long promised to trim thousands of acres of tree and have not--as of September, only 760 miles out of the 2,455 miles of power lines the company said it would trim. The company paid out $4.5 billion in stock dividends but told a judge it would be too expensive to inspect their grid.

The big cities in Texas have already started.

If it’s not there high cost of living from Cali it was all the ones from Louisiana that boiled over from Katrina . It’s started to get more crowded than it already was in the bigger cities ...

Venezuela did a fine job of taking over utilities and businesses.

Based on pictures coming out of California over the last couple of months they're starting to look like a 3rd world country. Nancy and Maxine better do something quick before California becomes the dark continent. banana

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

I'm thinking they need more regulations.
