I hear the lake is good for Crappie but I’m not really a Crappie fisherman but would like to catch a few. I bass fish the lake and realize it’s full of timber so where do you start to find the crappie? All tips and info appreciated, I’m gonna give it a shot on Monday.

Go straight out north from Callihan Park Boat Ramp toward the timber. About 50 yards south of the timber are suspended stumps or trees about 6 feet under water. The big crappie are 6' deep in the tops of these trees.Good luck.

I found a nice school in and around a grass edge and in some clumps in 4 fingers. One of them even bit a 8in worm while I was punching the grass.

How deep are the trees I should be looking for, are they on any contour break or hump? And thank you for your information, I appreciate it!

I found a few today, all but 2 on 1 brush pile in 16 fow. They were suspended above it in about 10 to 12. 20 fish in the box.

Great job. Fished the South Shore area today as well and did not do as good at all. Only caught three. Boat we were in does not have side imaging so it was hard to find the brush piles.

I think I am figuring this crappie thing out at least a little bit at Choke Canyon. I am starting to find brush piles and now know where to look for some of them. They seem to all be holding at least some fish. They were really tight to the cover and you had to be in the pile to get a bite. I caught at least 50 and took my limit for the freezer.
