It sounds like the grass roots tournaments from BFL to Costa to even the High School and College fishing will probably be better off after this merger. However, the format of the FLW tour events seems like a screwed up mess for 2020. Merging the two formats in the same tournament seems like a really odd way of doing things. I do not think that will be a hit with anyone involved. I don't suspect that format will last past 2020. I do feel sorry for the top guys in FLW. Many of them, by all accounts, were begged and even compensated to stay with FLW in 2019. I bet they regret that decision now. Looks like they will get to spend at least a year in the "minor leagues". FLW high school and college programs are a joke when you really break them down. There is a whole lot of fluff and flamboyance but no real substance. There are better programs out there, at least for HS anglers. I agree 100%. Especially in Texas. BASS and FLW ask the Texas Bass Nation and TBF to manage their state junior programs. That is the last thing the board of directors of those organizations want to deal with. It's just an afterthought to both organizations.

So.....does this mean Boyd gets to tell Thrift what kind of cigarettes he can smoke now? Exactly....if I'm thrift, making a good living, why would I want to leave if I'm competing against lesser quality for the same money

my prediction is that MLF getting 850 hours of TV coverage is going to have the same effect on fishing as television did to baseball and football...back when they televised one game a week, there wasn't much revenue for players to share...in the space of a few years,TV coverage increased to where every baseball teams games were being televised and it was almost that way with football... MLF's increase in television coverage is hopefully going to provide enough revenue to where the fishermen are not having to fish for their own entry fees plus they will receive revenue from the various venues where they hold tournaments....like professional golf, the fishermen will share all revenue and not have to share it with tournament trail owners...... the phenomenal growth of high school and college fishing also is going to help grow the sport and the TV audiences...

And no more Cup. Just The Classic and Red thing now. BASS is looking pretty good right about now. The Forest Wood Cup is being replaced with the FLW Angler of the Year Championship. Same thing, just a new name.

BASS needs to offer invites to top FLW Pros who have been downgraded to the farm system by MLF. . Do you consider the BASS Opens to be the farm system for the Elites?

Mixing the formats? Children driving the tractor. Its the only reason im remotely interested and hope BPT moves in the same direction. Would rather see more little fish first few rounds to give anglers chance to scout and figure something out and then biggest 5 for tye finals. Make them excel in both formats to win. I like that bettter than more little fish every round.

Harder to target biggest 5 first day on a lake than it is to go beat the bank and catch small fish. Let them run up the scoreboard with little fish then those leading can make a move to look for bigger fish for the following days. But im at least happy to see them mix it up.

I read 1st 2 rounds biggest 5 then MLF rules

This sounds all well and good with reduced entry fees and such but what most are not taking into consideration is the expenses on a angler to stay at stop for a extra 2 days. Oh, by the way your weights are zeroed after day 3. So if your in top 75 you need to make top 20 on day 4 starting over. What a circle jerk. Peace.

Zeroing the weights I will never accept. That isn’t the best guy of the week. I do think mixing the formats will finally answer what people support. I see FLW Tour getting better viewership than BPT next year

I keep hearing about all this coverage for BPT and yet I haven’t seen a single show. Honestly, I’ve forgotten about most of those anglers already.
How long does it take to turn around an episode? BASS has already pumped out basically every episode from this season. And they have online shows too.
