Cox was smart and qualified for the elites through the opens next year. Curious to see what the open field looks like now. I bet a lot more flw guys. I think it won't affect the thrift and Martin type guys. They'll get paid to fish no matter where they land. It's all the middle guys left out. 40k to go fish now

Haters gonna hate. I think this is great news for the industry! Better get used to it. There will be many more changes to come.

That's fine by me Chris. I'm dang sure a hater. Heck everyone that I fish with cant stand MLF either. And I'm one of the "young"ones they are trying to target. Just doesnt fit what tournament fishing is to me. But that's ok I dont have to get used to it. I'm not the one watching or fishing these tournaments. It doesn't direct impact most of our lives so no sweat off my back.

I am right there with you. I don't have to get used to anything. I just wont watch. Why do I need to watch pros go out and do what I can do on a saturday and that's beat the bank with a squarebill to catch one pounders with an occasional good one. If MLF becomes the only fishing option on TV, I will simply just quit watching. This doesn't affect me anyways, I will never be good enough to do this for a living. Just a typical weekender who wants to watch the 5 bass limit and not the 1 pound fest.

I watch wheelers vids here and there but not the MLF.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

The hybrid format is interesting. I see guys sticking around until the pro circuit goes full mlf style at the same time fishing opens to elite qualify.

The crazy thing is I think the format for the FLW pro tour will be far more interesting the the BPT format. I’m curious to see what kind of coverage it will get.

I'm not a huge fan of the MLF dink deal, but I'm like a few of the others above, the hybrid format has my interest...will be cool to see if it works

I bet the top FLW guys will be invited to fish the BPT next year and not "demoted" to the minors, or at least I hope so considering Thrift is probably the best all around angler on the planet at this time...

I seriously doubt it. But who really knows, this merger honestly should be good for BASS. Everyone who want to fish the 5 fish format doesn’t have much of a choice.

I do not think that will be a hit with anyone involved. I don't suspect that format will last past 2020. I do feel sorry for the top guys in FLW. Many of them, by all accounts, were begged and even compensated to stay with FLW in 2019. I bet they regret that decision now. Looks like they will get to spend at least a year in the "minor leagues".

FLW high school and college programs are a joke when you really break them down. There is a whole lot of fluff and flamboyance but no real substance. There are better programs out there, at least for HS anglers.
