My wife and I were at the Packery Channel Jetties last weekend (Sept. 29). A few slot reds and black drum being caught. We didn’t see any Bull reds caught. The tide was high and the waves were crashing over the rocks and walkway. We got soaked. But standing near the beach we got sand blasted. Lots of finger mullet. I’m guessing Port A jetties had high waves too. We didn’t make it there yet.

My brothers were at Mustang Island state park jetties a couple weeks ago. (Between the Packery and Port A jetties) They reported a few slot reds and undersized specs. No bulls there either. Hopefully these fronts will change that. I’m also headed back Oct 12 weekend. Will fish one of the three spots mentioned.

Tight lines!

Shut up and fish!

Fished the Port A jetties Sat and Sunday...caught a few Smacks...didn't see anything else being caught. I would be very careful in a smaller boat/jon boat. Solid 3-4 foot swell through the entrance to the channel. You can catch all the short reds you want along the san jose island shore line not far from the jetties...wifey was kicking my butt using a couple live shrimp on a light weight bottom rig. I caught a few on spittn image top water. Few small trout mixed in and had to fight off the needle fish.

I'm a little worried what this next front that is supposed to be coming down this week will do to the temperature and the bite

Seas on Friday and Saturday are predicted to be 5 to 7 feet so fishing in the surf or on the jetty may be tough.
