look at the big picture......140 anglers could have taken 700 fish (5 fish limit) home with them but they practiced catch and release so the loss of fish was only a fraction of what it could have been...
how many florida strain largemouth would there be and how good would the fishing be in Falcon if we didn't have the license revenue from tournament fishermen providing revenue so the TP&W could stock Falcon...
and lastly, how many fish died yesterday of natural causes in Falcon lake?...I don't know but I would bet it was a hundred times more than this tournament caused....

You need to listen to the Ken Smith video with the biologist from TPWD the rate for eating fish by meat eaters is quite a bit.

700 fish PER DAY OF PRACTICE TOO.

Oh, yeah. It’s not good to kill those keepers for the sport, but at least the intention was to catch and release them to breed on. Sometimes, life ends. Part of it, I guess.

Well I'll just say this. Lack of education is the major cause of a lot of this and the majority of these fish could survive with a little better fish care on the anglers part. I was guilty of it at one time years and years ago but through time I learned conservation is the key. Educating fisherman and tournament anglers is a start and they starts with the tournament organizers.

compared to other lakes around the country,Falcon only has a fraction of the tournaments other lakes do....look at the number of tournaments (and tournament fish kills) that T-Bend,Rayburn,guntersville,pickwick,chickamauga,wheeler,sinclair,eufaula and numerous other lakes have and their fish population cycles up and down but in general the fishing has remained good for last 40 years....
we should all be far more concerned with the number of small bass the cormorants eat every day...

I weighed in the 9.82 we had 6 fish for 30lb in the live well. Most fish were caught by 7:30 in the morning (9.82 was in the boat by 7:05) weighed in at 3:30. 0 fish dead and swam off immediately. The bass cat live well did it’s job, along with keeping the water temp down with ice bottles and catch and release.

No one likes to see dead fish especially some bigger ones and if better livewell care would happen then the number would be lower but there would still be a number. It’s the reality of tournament fishing.

So the op says the 9.82 died. You say it was fine.

There were two 9+ fish weighed. One made it fine, it was in a basscat
I don’t know who it was but I think he won the tournament, that shows you
how a little effort can go a long way. The other 9, which looked
like the bigger of the two, that’s why I though it was the 9.82 definitely
got the knife

Man that is a bonafied disaster, Looks like at least 10 fish and that zoomed photo is simply gut wrenching...well...it’s almost like a pile of baby seals. I’m not sure a 90,000acre lake can absorb that. RIP Falcon...better move the tourneys to Choke probably more fish there now.

The snow birds will take care of Choke’s bass, they always do.

I know it was fine because we kept an eye on her all day. And they released her before i released her any pics. I would have been sick if we lost that fish(any fish) but it took effort. Seeing any fish die during a tournament is difficult but it happens. I think we all as bass anglers want the fish to survive.
