They have a fee now????? Who does the money go to? I haven't been in years. I would imagine that this has something to do with storm damage. I guess all of the taxes paid for things like this was put into someone else's pocket. Ever notice that no matter what it is, there is no money for it.

When Hurricane Ike hit here, the entire Dike was heavily damaged....No more bait camps and no more Lighted Pier at the end. The place was flattened and the City decided NO more bait camps etc. All the boat ramps, small piers , beaches , and the road was destroyed. Since then, the City has done an Outstanding job replacing everything (ramps, piers etc.), Built a new First Ladies Pavilion, widen the beaches, repaired the roads, added new signs, trash containers, fish cleaning stations, lighting, kept up with the dredging at the Dike's end boat ramp, trash pickup including scraping the beaches of debris. Improvements continue till this day. If you haven't been here in years, I can assure you ,you will see the difference.BTW: Tx City Residents do not have to pay to get on the Dike. Residents have a Special Sticker affixed to their vehicles windshield. After the storm, regular trash pickup was said to have cost the City $250K Plus annually. So....4 months out of the year, fees are Not taken. I personally do not feel the CITY is throwing that money where it should Not go.I'll be out there Monday with my metal detector trying to find some Treasure!! C'Mon Down..

info here: http://www.texas-city-tx.org/page/rec.dike

we used to fish the TC pier a lot, had the season pass for several years until Hurricane Ike. I did fish there a few years ago, like V-Bottom said they cleaned it up and rebuilt very nicely. i don't fish on the weekends, too crowded so didn't have to pay a fee on the weekday.
