First Computer in High School was a Sperry Rand with punch cards.
It was a government surplus.

First real computer I had was a Tandy 1000 with a Radio Shack printer.

Anyone remember the Compaq portable? Or should I say luggable.

My first real job was loading greenbar on a IBM 3380 impact printer. My wife was was proud I had a suit job when I went in that first night shift. I came home 12 hours later looking like I had been working in a coal mine.

Cobol and Assembler. I still see both on the job boards. It is still out there. Mainly in the public sector best I can tell. Likely more resistant to malware than any modern languages.

ran an ibm 360/20 1972-74 that could do satellite uplink. latest greatest super comms. for the military. figured out how to route a msg around the world and back to myself thru satellites. pretty cool at the time.
had 3 tty keyboards, 2 punch card readers, 2 paper tape, 12 bank mag tape memory and took up about 3,000 sf for the whole deal.

got out and was learning cobol, fortran, snobol (think I got them right) when I had a little difference of opinion with a prof at ou.
wish I had stayed with it back then.
